On Sunday, 16^th August the inaugural Challenge Match was held at Hopeman Golf Club in its Centeenary Year between the two villages of Hopeman and Burghead.  In a fiercely fought Stableford match in windy but warm conditions, the Burghead team, led by Captain Billy McIntosh beat the Hopeman team captained by Graham Brain by 242 points to 223.  On this occasion it must be said that the Burghead team included a player from Lossiemouth.  It is hoped that this event will be an annual one, drawing on more available members from both villages.

This new event was held on Sunday 2 August 2009 with a magnificent trophy presented by Colin and David Taylor.  It was run on a new format with mixed teams of four scoring with 1,2,3 or 4 persons at specified holes - quite a stressful experience for some!  Competitors came from all over Scotland and enjoyed a good day's golf accompanied by good weather.
