Paul Lawrie Exhibition Match

On Saturday, 8 August 2009, as part of the Centenary Year, Paul Lawrie MBE held an Exhibition Match.  He was accompanied by his son Michael, who at the tender age of 10years plays off 18. They played against three of our young members - Kyle Godsman, our current Club Champion, Cameron Dixon, our Club Junior Champion, and Ian Allan, past Club Junior Champion.  Enjoying excellent weather, the party displayed the type of golf that some of us at least aspire to.  Congratulations must go the the Centenary Committee for organising an excellent event, the Greens Convenor and the Greens Staff for the wonderful condition of the course.

After the Match won narrowly by Paul and Michael, Club President Sandy More presented Paul with a Certificate on the occasion of his being appointed Honorary President of the Club.  He was also given a bag tag, showing him to be a member, and a bottle of our Centenary Whisky, aptly numbered "12".  During his visit, Paul confirmed once again that he considered the Prieshach to be one of his favourite Par 3 holes.  Sandy also presented Paul with a copy of the Prieshach photograph taken by John Clark.  In return Paul gave the Club a bottle of the Paul Lawrie Foundation Whisky.

After the match, Paul produced his copy of the famous Claret Jug, awarded to him on winning the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999, and allowed photo-shoots for anyone who wished one.   Lovely day, enjoyed by all.
